Welcome to Tom's multimedia walk through of 2000's best snow shelter.

There are three main rooms.  Currently the third is still under construction, and a fourth is already on the drawing board, pending availability of raw materials (we need more snow!).

The rooms are numbered as Hills 1,2,3.  The tunnel that connects Hill 1 to Hill 2 is the long tunnel.  The hill that connects Hill 2 to Hill 3 is the big tunnel.  Here's a map of the facility.

Hill 1 was the first constructed.  It has been almost completely re-built from its original self.  After the first day when it was decided to build a second hill and connect them with a tunnel, the first hill was made significantly larger.  After completion of the long tunnel, a large amount of settling occurred throughout the facility and Hill 1 was too small even to crawl into.  So its size was increased and it was re-excavated.  It has since been enlargened even more, both internally and externally.  Hill 2 was built on an already sizeable hill of snow, and was designed to connect to Hill 1 through a tunnel.  Which is the reasoning for its location directly below Hill 1.  It is the shortest of the three hills, but currently has the largest internal volume.  This is the only hill that is completely finished, except for some smoothing of the inside.  The Long Tunnel is about 12 feet inlength and goes up a 2 foot incline from Hill 2 to Hill 1.  It is also very short, and is nearly impossible to crawl through in an upright crawl.  The difficulty of travel through this tunnel is the reason the Big Tunnel was built so tall.  Currently the Big Tunnel runs right through to what will be the back wall of Hill 3.  Other than that, no excavation has occurred on Hill 3.

Without further ado, the pictures.
